Former Patriots Tight End Rob Gronkowski Calls on NFL to Allow Players use CBD 

Rob Gronkowski appealed to the NFL this weekend on the use of CBD for league players. Gronskowski was not only speaking out for the current league players but himself as well. “I don’t want to be banned from playing the sport I love because I’m using a product that anyone can buy right off the shelf at their local pharmacy,” Gronkowski said, insinuating that any decision to return to the sport would be based solely on the league’s decision regarding CBD for players. Gronkowski partnered with CBD Medic, an Abacus Health Products company, in August and has since announced a partnership with Gillette Stadium and Patriot Place. 

Ohio Embraces CBD Post-Legalization

CBD in Ohio has exceeded projections and expectations since the passage of the 2018 Farm Bill. Frank Tempseta of Steel Valley CBD has had huge success with his diverse range of products in Ohio and is happy that the industry has opened up to his communities in the state and across the country. Ohio has been one of the more cautious states since hemp-CBD legalization. They have implemented cultivation licenses for those wishing to grow hemp-CBD and require intake safety protocols to make sure the products are lab tested, quality assured and ODA reviewed before being brought to market. Ohio also requires labeling to be US FDA compliant, similar to food products and supplements to ensure the safety of consumers.

cbdMD Partners with ABC Stores in Hawaii Offering Products at Over 70 Locations

North Carolina based nationally recognized CBD giant cbdMD announced a partnership with ABC Stores who are a leading travel company based out of Hawaii. They will be opening over 70 retail locations that will carry cbdMD products. This is a great opportunity for cbdMD to continue expansion outside the continental US. ABC Stores commented, “We’ve always been at the forefront of finding new items to enhance customer experience. CBD is in high demand, and we’re proud to introduce cbdMD to our loyal consumer base.” The ABC Stores chain has been a familiar convenience store name in Hawaii since 1949 and brings significant expansion opportunity to cbdMD. 

CBD Medic to Advertise Around Patriots’ Stadium

The Patriots’ home stadium has made an advertising deal with CBD Medic- the hemp-CBD company that Former Patriots Tight End Rob Gronkowski partnered with earlier this year. Because of the league policies, hemp-CBD is not allowed to be advertised inside the stadium but that hasn’t stopped CBD companies from advertising around these policies and the stadium itself. Perry Antelman the CEO of Rhode Island-based Abacus Health Products of which CBD Medic is a subsidiary is optimistic that as the individual states begin legislation and regulation of cannabis products the league will reconsider medical applications of CBD and other cannabis products for athletes. Antelman said, “When it does come around, we’re hoping that will be one of the first to be in the stadium.” The NFL formed a committee in May of this year to establish new policies regarding the use of CBD and other alternative therapies for pain management.
