Coping with COVID: Moving Online

In this installment, we’ll tackle the notion of going online. Needless to say, if you have a brick and mortar retailer, now is the perfect time to consider moving your business online. Platforms like BigCommerce and WooCommerce make it really easy to get your online CBD shop up and running and even Shopify is getting in on the action.

There is no avoiding this COVID-19 crisis, so we here at CBD Business media are resigned to help you cope with it. So, we’re starting an ongoing series for retailers called Coping with COVID, and we hope we don’t need to keep it going for very long.

Set-Up Your Online Business

In this installment, we’ll tackle the notion of going online. Needless to say, if you have a brick and mortar retailer, now is the perfect time to consider moving your business online. Platforms like BigCommerce and WooCommerce make it really easy to get your online CBD shop up and running and even Shopify is getting in on the action.

Our advice: don’t try to overdo it. Smaller, more targeted shops actually attract deeper audiences, so keep your offering to what you know: an extension of your in-person retail experience and maybe a few SKUs you wish you had in-store but can’t for whatever reason. As a rule of thumb, anything over 1000 SKUs online is very hard to manage.

Go Hyper-Local

We think the sweet spot for brick and mortar businesses is extending their reach, but you may not need to extend beyond the local area. While everyone in the world is trying to capture CBD sales online nationally or even globally, not many are targeting the local area around their store. Hyperlocal marketing may be all you need to let your community know they can get your products delivered.
